The Association presents the first Hands-On Workshop of the year on Suturing!
Participants will be getting the opportunity for direct hands-on practice with pig heads, focusing on both oral mucosa and facial skin suturing techniques.

1300-1305 | Opening address | |
1305-1450 | Suturing of the Facial Skin | Pig Skin Model - Demonstration by instructor followed by participants hands-on: Discussion on setting of care, local anesthesia, toilet of the wound, choice of sutures and generic wound care. Instructor demonstration of: o Interrupted suture o Vertical mattress o Horizontal mattress o Running continuous suture o Locking continuous suture o Subcutaneous buried suture o Corner stitch / half buried mattress suture Participants to create straight line incisions for practice (if time permits, participants my practice on curvilinear incisions) |
1450-1520 | Tea-Break | |
1520-1645 | Suturing of the Oral Mucosa | Pig Jaw Model - Demonstration by instructor followed by participants hands-on: Discussion on clean-contaminated nature of the oral wound. Wounds to work on: o Through and through lip wound o Vestibular laceration o Tongue laceration o Trapezoidal flap o Extraction of tooth and resulting socket Discussion on how to apply the previously learnt suturing techniques on the oral wounds Participants to practice on the pig jaw |
